Hi Dolls,

I was lucky enough to be selected to be part of a trial and review squad to be one of the very first people to try out the new Rimmel London Sunshimmer Self Tan Mousse before it hits the shelves across Australia.

The lovely team at Rimmel London Australia contacted me after I commented on a picture they posted on their Instagram account asking 'whats your tanning hack in less that 25 words'.

Rimmel London Sunshimmer Self Tan Mousse is the latest tanning product from Rimmel London and their very first tanning mousse which gives an instant glow that also contains a developer which gives a flawless natural tan in just one hour. The tan comes in three shades - Light, Medium and Dark. I opted to trial the dark shade as I like my tan to be dark, and this colour is exactly what it says 'dark'! The tan is said to last on the skin for up to 7 days and I have mine on 4 days now and it is still a lovely rich natural tan that has only very lightly faded.

~ The verdict ~

After a disastrous 'Jen moment' when I first took the the lid off and trying to twist the nozzle around (for no particular reason, just wanting to see if it was possible which it is NOT) I leaked the product all over my hands, bedsheets and carpet, but don't worry all washed out which is good to know!

Anyways, back to the tan..

Immediately after applying one coat of Rimmel London Sunshimmer Self Tan Mousse

I must say I was pretty impressed by the instant colour, a very natural glowing tan!
I did find that the tan dried practically instantly, so if you are not fast enough applying I definitely believe you could be left patchy! I probably wouldn't advise to use this product as a tanning beginner doing your tan for the very first time and maybe opt for the Rimmel London Sunshimmer Instant Wash Off Tan until you build on your timing (pictured below).

Remember girls, tanning is a skill and it can take time to master, believe me, even I have tanning disasters!

My tanning hack
I like to wear a disposable glove as well as using a tanning mitt because I have long hands and sometimes the glove isn't long enough to prevent getting the tan on my hands and there is nothing worse than having orange hands because generally we can't hide them. When I finish applying tan to my body I then do my hands and feet. I like to use a makeup brush - generally a kabuki brush, but your foundation brush will do the job if you don't have a spare brush to use for tanning, once you wash it afterwards! I use a very small amount of tan and moisturiser and apply all over my hands and  feet. Since using this tip I haven't had any orange hand/ feet disasters ;)

Also, my partner Daragh didn't even complain this time as it doesn't have the usual fake tan smell. It actually smells good which means if you're in a hurry and need to tan quickly then you are onto a winner as the instant colour is gorgeous!

While showering the following morning I thought I was losing all the colour, but it was only the excess so I was relieved by that. The colour was so natural and still dark with a nice red undertone rather than an orangey tone. I was beyond chuffed as I had a bloggers event to attend the same day and it was perfect, absolutely no patches.

Overall I was very happy with this tan. I loved that it dried very quickly and wasn't sticky, I really hate waiting around for tan to dry so I can get dressed. Without a doubt mousse is by far my favourite type of tan because its so easy to blend and dries quickly and the Rimmel mouse is no exception to this!

I am thrilled by the fact that Rimmel London have finally made a mousse tan because what fake tan lover doesn't love super affordable quality products right?

Rimmel London Sunshimmer Self Tan Mousse will be available from the 1st August from Priceline, Target and selected pharmacies nationwide Australia for a RRP $16.95.

For you lucky ones who already have the mousse available in your home country,
have you tried this tan yet?

Love,

Jen

  2. I’m really amazed with your posting skills as well as with the layout on your blog site. Is this a paid style or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the pleasant quality writing, it is rare to see a great site such as this one these days.I recently came to know about www.avanaaustralia.com, their Fake Tan products are very effective.
